Interior painting that still looks right in five years

Most interior repaints fail at the edges: a wavy cut line above the baseboard, roller stipple showing through in raking window light, a patch that flashes a different sheen than the wall around it. Those are prep problems, not paint problems. We fix the wall first, then we paint it.

Every line below appears on your estimate. If something is not listed, ask. We would rather over-explain than surprise you.

  • Furniture moved and protected

We move what we can, center and cover the rest, and run breathable drops on floors, not plastic sheeting that turns into a slip hazard.

  • Real surface prep

Nail pops reset, cracks cut out and taped, drywall dings filled, sanded flat and spot-primed so patches do not flash through the finish coat.

  • Caulk and seal

Trim, casing and crown are caulked where they meet drywall. It is the difference between a paint job and a finish.

  • Two finish coats, cut by hand

No tape shortcuts on wall-to-ceiling lines. Cut lines are brushed freehand, and they are straight, because that is the job.

  • Coatings chosen per room

Washable matte in living areas, scuff-resistant eggshell in halls and kids rooms, moisture-tolerant finishes in baths and laundry.

  • Daily cleanup and a punch walk

The house stays livable each evening. At the end we walk every room with you, flashlight in hand, and fix what you point at.

  1. 01

    Walkthrough

Gus walks each room with you, notes ceilings, trim, closets and problem areas, and takes measurements.

  2. 02

    Written estimate

You get an itemized scope covering surfaces, prep, product, sheen and coat count, with a start window.

  3. 03

    Color and sheen

We sample on your walls, in your light. Colors that look right in the store rarely look right at home.

  4. 04

    Protect and prep

Mask, cover, patch, sand, prime. This is the longest part of the job and it should be.

  5. 05

    Paint

Ceilings, then walls, then trim and doors, so every adjacent surface stays clean.

  6. 06

    Walkthrough and touch-up

We hand back a finished room, not a list of things to call about later.

About interior painting

Do I need to move out while you paint?

Almost never. We work room by room, keep a clear path through the house, and clean up each evening. For a whole-house interior on an occupied home we sequence bedrooms so you always have somewhere to sleep.

How long does an interior repaint take?

A single room is typically one to two days. A 1,800 to 2,500 square foot whole-house interior with walls, ceilings and trim usually runs five to nine working days, depending on prep and how much trim work is involved. Your estimate names the actual window.

Will the paint smell?

Modern low- and zero-VOC interior coatings are close to odorless and cure quickly. If anyone in the home is sensitive, tell us at the walkthrough and we will spec accordingly.

Can you match a color that is already on the wall?

Yes. We can pull a chip and match it, though a match is never perfect on an aged wall. If a room has faded unevenly, repainting the full surface gives a better result than spot-matching.

Do you paint ceilings and trim, or just walls?

All of it: ceilings, walls, baseboards, casing, crown, doors, closets and shelving. The estimate lists exactly which surfaces are included so nothing is assumed.
